When you first meet a woman who you’re interested in, one of the oldest social mores is to introduce yourself and buy her a drink. It’s an old-fashioned, gentlemanly thing to do, and while we’re all for chivalrous gestures since women love that stuff, we think it’s time to switch it up a little bit. It’s the 21st century, and social expectations have changed. Although, we’re sure some women will be pleased to receive a free drink, are. They’re no longer all waiting for you to come to them. For that reason, we’ve realized that it’s time to stop trying so hard and let the women come to us. In this case, here are a few tips on how to get a woman to buy you a drink, rather than the other way around.
Assessing the Scene
If you’re trying to get her to buy you a drink, chances are that you are in a club or bar. Scope out what the scene’s like before proceeding any further. If most of the women present are in groups, it’s going to be a lot harder. The best time to use our tactics is when you single out a woman you’re interested in. That usually works best either early in the night at a busy club before things get too busy, or at a more low-key bar. Figure out what’s available based on the venue, and then proceed to step two.
Picking out a Woman
Once you’ve established that you’re in a situation where you’re ready to attract a woman (and there are enough available ladies around), you have to choose one to focus your attention on. We prefer to try and get women to notice us that are smiling or look friendly. If she looks miserable and is alone at the bar, either she’s just been dumped or she’s stuck up. Both of these scenarios are bad for you, so avoid women with dour expressions. The best pick is going to be a woman who you think is pretty and looks like she’d be friendly to talk to.
Making Yourself Known
Now is the time when you start to make yourself – and your interest – known. Sitting at the bar alone is a good start. Make sure you’re dressed for the occasion. Men who sit at the bar alone in everyday, comfortable clothes look like losers. Men who sit at the bar alone in a nice outfit – whether a suit or something that equates to club wear – look like they need some company. By looking like a refined gentleman with sophistication and class, the woman in your sights is going to wonder what could have happened that you ended up alone. It evokes a little bit of mystery as well as the sympathy vote.
